II.2.4) Description of procurement: The National Satellite Test Facility (NSTF) is a new facility for the environmental testing of complete satellites and large sub-assemblies which is currently under construction at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) at UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Science Technology Facilities Council (STFC). It is being funded by the UK Government, developed and operated by RAL Space, and will provide comprehensive space AIV/AIT facilities for both new and existing space companies. One of the main facilities is an anechoic chamber which will be used to perform electromagnetic compatibility tests.

Most of the EMC equipment required to perform radiated E-field susceptibility tests has already been procured. The RF amplifiers are the last procurement items and the aim of this specification is for the successful bidder to propose a suitable rack mounted, integrated amplifier system which minimises reconfiguration time.

The RF amplifier system must cover the frequency range between 1GHz – 40GHz and shall be compatible with signal generator and dual directional couplers already procured.

The system shall include a switchable input, requiring only one connection between the signal generator and the switch and four connections between the switch and the individual amplifiers.

The amplifier subsystem shall be mounted in a 19” rack before delivery.

The requirement detailed in the specification is for the system design, manufacture and delivery of the RF amplifier subsystem comprising of the following items:

1.Amplifier 1GHz-6GHz
2.Amplifier 6GHz-18GHz
3.Amplifier 18GHz-26.5GHz
4.Amplifier 26.5GHz-40GHz
5.Input switch
6.Interconnecting cable (between signal generator and input switch)
7.Interconnecting cable (between switch and each individual amplifier)
8.Power distribution for items 1,2,3,4,5 and signal generator (Keysight N5183B)
9.19” rack - to mount items 1 through to 8 and free issued items
10.Document deliverables

This requirement is for the design, manufacturing, testing and delivery of the RF Amplifier Subsystem to be used at Electromagnetic Compatibility Chamber (EMC) at The National Satellite Test Facility (NSTF) which is currently under construction at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL), full details of which are contained in the UK SBS PR20030 Specification document (and any other associated documentation).
